Our one and only Phonique is quite busy these days. He's currently preparing for a six-date tour through Brasil. But he won't leave for South America without finishing his remix for "House Of God". The classic hit by DHS will be Poker Flat's 100th 12" release and drops with remixes from Martin Landsky, D.H.S. and Phonique. Watch out!
He's also putting the finishing touches to his next solo-release "The Pump" for Dessous which will hit the streets in early January!

After beeing nominated and winning the "Beatport Award 2008" category "Best Deep House" Phonique now adds insult to injury: He has won the "Ibiza DJ Award 2008" as "Best Deep House DJ 2008! The new Phonique single includes brilliant remixes by some of the strongest tracks from Phonique's new album "Good Idea". Charles Webster had a take on "Worked It Out" while Will Saul remixed "Bang". Phonique contributes a new version of "Space Cruise" featuring Gui Boratto.

This is Phonique's first single taken from his brilliant second album "Good Idea". Featuring the distinctive vocals of Erland Øye (Kings Of Convenience, Whitest Boy Alive) „Casualities“ is definatly one of the strongest tracks off the album.

This song is a wonderfull Nu-Disco tune with a funky bassloop which underlines the contradiction in Erlend‘s vocal style which is melancholic yet exhilarant at the same time.

The remix is done by one half of the famous Metro Area....Morgan Geist. Amongst the longer club version of the original, the B-side holds a Phonique remix with a more stompy rhythm and nice, slightly oversteering synthies.

The smart and charming Berlin based producer Phonique (Michael Vater) returns with his second album! „Good Idea“ is a twinkling rainbow, teeming with positive vibes and breathing the cosmopolitan creativity of a widely travelled mind.

Although „Good Idea“ can be described as modern electronic music in the broadest sense, it‘s difficult to pigeonhole the album as it combines so many influences, ranging from Deep- to Electro-House, from Nu-Disco to HipHop, from Lounge to Minimal and Techno to Pop. Phonique and his production partner Alex Krüger prove their outstanding versatility without sounding arbitrary.

The collaboration highlights of the album include „Casualities“ (feat. Erlend Øye) which merges uplifting airiness with melancholy in the distinctive Erlend way, the soulful „Worked It Out“ (feat. Ian Whitelaw and Meitz) and the powerful „Computer Kidz“ (feat. Shadee). But the flow of the entire album makes it difficult to pick out just a few tracks.

„Good Idea“ is definitely a strong musical statement, but not in a loudmouthy way. The album is fresh, inspiring and innovative without claiming to reinvent the wheel. It‘s a masterpiece by a sympathatic Berlin producer to make your summer a little nicer.

This special one-sided 12“ is strictly limited to only a few hundred copies. „Bang“ will appear on the new Phonique album „Good Idea“ which will be released in early May on double-CD and double-12“. The dry and mystic clubtrack is characterised by a weird anticlimax / climax and a sparse rhythm construction which will prepare the dancefloors for „Good Idea“.

In only a couple of weeks the brandnew Phonique album "Good Idea" will hit the stores! After "identification", "Good Idea" is Phonique's second album and spreads a sunny summervibe. Berlin based Michael Vater aka Phonique is back home on Dessous with his new single „John“!

„John“ is a great classic and deep House tune with nice chords and a cool build-up which makes the track perfect for the dancefloor as well as for more relaxed moments. Sole Channel‘s finest Mr. V. aka Victor Font adds a fantastic remix. He tweaked the original with a bit more punch to the beat and added a spaced out keyboard solo.

The new track „John“ will be included on the bonus-CD of the new album "Good Idea", which will be released on Dessous in May .

"John" is shipping to stores from monday!

We are happy and proud to announce that Phonique just finished recording his second album for Dessous! Tentatively entitled "Good Idea" the new album is another great progress in Phonique's career and fuses all kinds of modern, urban music from Deep- to Electro-House, from Nu-Disco to HipHop, from Lounge to Minimal and from Techno to Pop. With Erlend Øye and Ian Whitelaw there are two guest-vocalists on the album who already took part in the recording of Phonique's debut "Identifiction", but there will be many, many more guests on "Good Idea", which is scheduled for release in early May. The Love City Festival in Hamburg will present a very special unique show feat. Phonique and Erlend Øye on the same stage this weekend (August 26th, this coming Saturday, midnight). Erlend already contributed the vocals on Phonique's song "For The Time Being" which is featured on Phonique's debut album "Identification" (Dessous CD 09).

After his much acclaimed debut-album "identification" (descd09 / deslp09) and three singles including "For The Time Being feat Erlend Øye" (des52) Phonique is back with two fresh tracks on Dessous. "Weapon" is a true dancefloor weapon. Chrystal clear sounds backed up with a large bass and dirty brutally oversteering synthlines characterize this dark track. So "hands up" would have to be understood in a different connotation here ;-) The Tracks And The City remix adds some housey warmth to the track without losing the snappy drive of the original. "A Walk In The Club" is a straight Electro-House track with a funky bassline which was inspired by Phonique's DJ gigs at F.U.N. / Weekend.

This weekend Phonique opens up the Gauloises Bluehouse Tour 2005 in Leipzig. Phonique will play 15 dates from March until September in Germany. As a special goodie Gauloises will give away free CDs including a mix containg 4 Phonique tracks and the video "For The Time Being" as seen on MTV. So be there early. While Steve Bug made a brilliant selection for CD1, our one and only Phonique did a beautiful mix for the bonus-CD! There are hardly any other producers as hot as Tiefschwarz are at the moment. So there could have been no better choice then this german producer team to remix the new brilliant 12" by Phonique that finally ships next week to be in stores the week after. It's again Phonique, this time in cooperation with three female vocalists "die elfen", who presents the upcoming Dessous single. Named "The Red Dress", this funky minimal houser is sublimated by no one less than Tiefschwarz. Their remix already earned some great respect by being voted as a top10 hot shots by the tastemaking german DJs a couple of weeks in a row. Just before anyone got even a whitelabel.

The Sage Club, Berlin hosts a very special charity party tonight. A gigantic line up will make this party a big success for the humanitarian project "Sage Hospital" in Senegal, Africa. All gains will be forwarded to this project. Among many DJs and live acts, it's Phonique, whose new single on Dessous will be released soon, spinning his vinyl there tonight.
